In addition to performing direct social service work, ARSP volunteers learn community organizing skills in low-income and disadvantaged neighborhoods. Community organizing is a grassroots approach to democracy that is not well known in Europe. Through community organizing, people learn to take their lives into their own hands instead of waiting for politicians and bureaucrats to solve their problems. ARSP volunteers learn first-hand that it is possible to take a stand, show civil courage and achieve goals step-by-step.
Our partner organizations for 2015-2016 are:
Clinton Housing Development Co. | New York, NY
In previous years ARSP volunteers worked also in the following placements:
Jewish Council on Urban Affairs | Chicago, IL
Delta Foundation | Pittsburgh, PA
Dignity Housing | Philadelphia, PA
